Vagabondiana: bid on rare book, proceeds to Single Homeless Project in Kings X

A rare book has tuned up in our second hand section: ‘Vagabondiana: or, Anecdotes of Mendicant Wanderers through the Streets of London’ (Chatto and Windus, 1874) by John Thomas Smith. At this moment in time there is one copy for sale on Abe Books for around £60. Our copy is in excellent condition.

Half the book is a written description of the lives and experiences of “the many wandering classes” of early 19th century London. The second is made up incredible drawings of  “the most remarkable”.

Rather than put this out for sale we had the idea that if someone would like it they pay a minimum of £50 for it, which we will donate to the Single Homeless Project here in King’s Cross.  If you can donate more than that, then all the better.

Please contact nik@housmans.com if you are at all interested.
